Hi friends! It has been a quiet week around here, & I’m not mad about it. I’ve been doing lots of early morning work in my flower bed; it gets too hot so early, but once I finish I’ll show the before & after pictures.
Let’s get to my favs from the week, shall we?
Okay, as part of my continued education I’ve been listening to the podcast 1619. It is six episodes, & each episode delves into different parts of systemic racism – everything from Capitalism to music. It is truly fascinating.
This week we were encouraged to purchase two books by Black writers.
This week I bought Get A Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams. All three books were recommended by Ashley Spivey, whom you should absolutely follow on IG.
I discovered a new jewelry shop from @WhatKateFinds. Soko is sustainable, woman owned, & Black owned. This new ring is on its way to me & I am so excited!
Four: Another Podcast
I’ve written before about my affinity for the Bad on Paper podcast. Well, one of the hosts, Becca & her friend Rachael, wrote, directed, & produced a new podcast – RomCom Pods! It’s basically a Hallmark movie in podcast form & I love it! Go support them now!
Five: New (to me) Music
As usual, I’m late to the party, but I have recently discovered new music – MisterWives. I’m currently listening to the Our Own House album on repeat, yes it is from 2015. Like I said – new to me.
A reminder – today is Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of slavery. I follow Anna Groves on IG (@annamaegroves) & she posted great info on Juneteenth.
I hope y’all have a great weekend.
