Friday Five: Who knew there was a fence?

E69E6C8C-FE02-48C9-9B30-10EAA1E1DDBF_4_5005_cHi friends!  Can you believe it’s already May?  How was March the longest month in the history of calendars, & April flew by?

Let’s get into it, shall we?

One: Lake Street Drive

Okay, so I recently discovered some new music, my favorite being Lake Street Drive.  I’m sure they’ve been around for awhile, but this album has been my playlist this week. B0C4F3C5-5262-48F3-A1F1-809C34475C04_1_201_a

Favorite Song: “Good Kisser”

Two: Protein Pancakes

Confession time.  I hate to make pancakes.  Love to eat ’em, hate to make ’em.  So, I buy frozen.  At the beginning of the pandemic I bought Kodiak Power Flapjacks on an impulse.  I just opened them this week…   C74F3A64-97B7-4A0D-A794-021DA62DBFDA

There are 4 packs of three pancakes, which are about the size of my palm.  Y’all, these are so good!  They taste just like buttermilk pancakes with no protein powder taste at all.

Three: Makeup Remover

I hesitate to share this product with you because I don’t want y’all to buy all the stock. 😉 Kidding!  This Bliss Eye Makeup Remover Gel is amazing!  I hate a greasy makeup remover, but this gel is the opposite of that. D73F27B1-EBF4-4E66-BB6A-CD5CE73DC896

The one caveat is that this can be hard to find, so when you do – buy multiple!  I have found it on Amazon, Ulta, & rarely at Target.

Four: Pomelo

Now that is officially Spring, I have officially switched to white wine exclusively (red is for Fall & Winter).  Lately, I’ve been more into “light” chardonnays, but I want to share a Sauvingnon Blanc.  Pomelo is currently my favorite; it’s not at all heartburn-y, which is the mark of a bad wine for me. 74F93968-C5C9-48CC-9684-2A98FF79C0E0

This Sauv. Blanc is crisp & refreshing, not too sweet.  It is under $15 & I buy it a Target.

Five: Backyard

So, I have a love/hate relationship with my yard, specifically my backyard.  It is completely useless.  The way my house was built, I have to go out my back door (outside) & then go into my garage door to get to the washer & dryer…also my car.

Anyways, if it is dark or raining I basically don’t do laundry…like I needed a reason to avoid laundry.  So, here’s the deal with my yard – it has so many trees that nothing else can grow.  Sunlight does not reach the ground.  The canopy holds in moisture & all the bugs.  I now have a massive hatred for pine trees & pine needles.

This week I hired someone to come clean up all the leaves & trim the trees.  Here is before & after.

Who knew there was a fence back there?  There is still some more work to be done, which should hopefully happen today.  Any ideas for possibly getting grass (or anything really) to grow?

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

What’s Up Wednesday: April 2020

Hi friends!  Can you believe we are almost done with April?  March had 549 days, but April has only had 3…weird.  Today is my WUW post where I link up with other bloggers & just give a little update on life & such. D4181699-7DFE-49CC-9185-B7985BF653C3

What I’m eating?

I’m not sure I’ve shared this on a WUW, but as soon as I started social distancing I made a list of all the food in my house.  The list was categorized by: freezer, refrigerator, pantry, countertop (produce), & leftovers.  As I eat things, they get crossed off.  This has helped rein me in from going to the grocery store more often than I really need to. 9F69899A-C8BC-42AB-ADC0-1C102C9784E7

I might continue this post CV-19.  It is so satisfying to cross stuff off!

What I’m reminiscing about?

Restaurants!  I’ll be honest, for the most part the pandemic has not altered my day-to-day.  However, I miss going to restaurants – looking at a menu, not having to cook the food, not having to do the dishes…sounds like the best dream.  So. Many. Dishes.

What I’m loving?

Y’all, I’ve become a plant lady.  I’m obsessed with my Tower Garden.  My seedlings have been in the tower for about 2.5 weeks now.  Still no edible produce, but things are happening! DA7E4882-9309-4FFA-8C5D-95A64E7C8F0C

What I’ve been up to?

I have been experimenting a lot with essential oil diffuser blends.  I’m really into anything that goes well with Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood at the moment.

What I’m dreading?

The ducks.  We have two ducks that have adopted our street, & they seem to have specifically taken my yard hostage.  On Monday, I caught my neighbor in the act of feeding the ducks!  Y’all, I am terrified of birds – all birds.  They came at me twice yesterday.  It makes checking on my tower garden dangerous…by my standards.  I need walk to the mailbox & bring in my trashcan later today & I’m scared.  This is definitely a case where I am more afraid of them than they are of me, & they let me know it.  😦

What I’m working on?

Last week I downloaded a free trial of AutoCAD.  I kept having these ideas for a house, so I needed to get them down.  My creative outlets are always very structured & linear, so drawing floorpans is the perfect outlet.

What I’m excited about?

I’m super excited to have someone come out to my house & clean up the leaves in my yard, trim my trees, & plant some oleanders I bought last weekend.

This is currently my back yard. Yikes. 60B60D38-38C1-4CA8-88C6-E6040536CF8B

What I’m watching & reading?

Mrs. America on Hulu is so good!  Is there anything that James Marsden is not in?  Cate Blanchett is one of those actresses that I love, but always forget about because she never has a role where she plays a present day person.  Her roles always involve quite a bit of costume, but she is incredibly talented.4BA9B7DB-E30E-4F70-B447-3260F55E1EAF

I’ve had a tough time reading lately, so I had to switch to easy reading.  I’m into historical romance at the moment – specifically the Untouchables Series by Darcy Burke; she has 10 books in this particular series & they are all around 200 pages.  Quick reads!

What I’m listening to?

I’m super into the band Lake Street Drive at the moment.  They’ve been around for awhile, but they are new to me. B0C4F3C5-5262-48F3-A1F1-809C34475C04_1_201_a

What I’m wearing?

Pandemic or not, I work from home.  So, for my sanity I wear jeans M-F, & pandemic pants on weekends.  I’m currently wearing my favorite Madewell jeans (mine are sold-out, but these are similar) & my pink #pimpinjoy sweatshirt – it’s rainy here & I’m cold.

What I’m doing this weekend?

Still nothing.  Texas will be reopening restaurants, but I think its too soon so I will be reading & watching tv.  I’m going to rewatch The Mindy Project.

What I’m looking forward to next month?

I’m debating on whether or not I should go visit Mama J on Mother’s Day Weekend.  Should I go & behave normally for the whole weekend, or do I go for the day, drop off her gift, & stay 6 feet away with my mask on?  I conflicted.  Anyone have any thoughts?

What else is new?

Not a lotta.

I’ll see y’all back here on Friday, for my Friday Five!

Friday Five: Faux Vacation

Hi friends!  Happy Friday!  I know y’all are all dying for a tower garden update. 😉 I’m happy to report that it is doing so well!  My squash, zucchini, strawberries, mint, & lettuces are doing especially great. IMG_1808

What do y’all think I should do with all the extra lettuces?  Should I plant them in a pot?  In the ground?

One: Carnitas

On Monday, I tried my hand at making carnitas for the first time.  I was super impressed! BF69DA2E-5755-4AE1-A5BD-DF4A701D7E75_1_201_a

So, I used The Defined Dish’s recipe from her cookbook.  I checked her blog & didn’t see the recipe there, but she had a lot of similar recipes.  What I loved about this recipe is that the carnitas kind of had a neutral roast flavor, which for me means that I can add many different flavors to it depending on my meal.

The other night I had a baked potato for dinner & added a little BBQ sauce to the carnitas & topped my potato.  I also added a little salsa verde to it for tacos one night.  You could make a little gravy, add some potatoes & carrots for a pot roast, or make a modified shepherd’s pie or stew. So many options!  As someone who doesn’t love leftovers, this is perfect for me.

Two: Baby Foot Peel

I LOVE to do foot peels.  Any brand will do.  You basically wear booties around for about 1 – 1.5 hours (or like me take a nap with them on).  Rinse your feet, and in about a week your feet will peel like a sunburn (it doesn’t hurt) or a snake skin.  It is gross, but so satisfying.  You can’t get pedicures at the moment, so get one from Amazon. FF282E85-C7CA-4AFB-A487-D995E58A74C4

Three: Jewelry Cleaner

I was influenced by @things.i.bought.and.liked for this jewelry cleaner.  She was right, it is the best cleaner I have found in a long, long time.  It’s the next best thing to a polishing machine.

I cleaned a necklace that I wear every single day & rarely take off.

Before (left) & After (right):

Cost: $18.00 – this would make a fantastic Mother’s Day gift!

Four: Nail Polish Organizer

My life has been changed!  I got this amazing organizer for my nail polish.  It holds 48 polishes, which sadly is still not enough for my collection, but it is now much more manageable.

Believe it or not, none of these are duplicates!  I have about 10 more polishes & all my nail care stuff in an additional tub.

Five: Vacation in a Diffuser

I think many of you probably know that I am a huge fan of essential oils.  This week I have really been diffusing oil blends that smell like a vacation, at least to me.

My favorite blend at the moment is: 8 drops of Lime, 5 drops of Jade Lemon, 5 drops of Bergamot, 3 drops of Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, & 3 drops of Spearmint.  Smells like a tropical destination.

What are y’all loving this week?

Friday Five: Stick a Fork in Me, I’m Done!

Hi friends!  Well, it’s day 42 of my quarantine, and I am over it.  OVER IT!  I work from home (even before CV) & I live alone.  I was primed to thrive in a quarantine, and to a certain extent I am.  However, 42 days of little to no human interaction is a lot.  I would simply love to give someone a hug.  How are y’all hanging in there?

I have been a real lazy bones this week, and all I really want to do is talk about my tower garden.  Here’s a progress shot – the seedlings have been transported to the tower! IMG_1722

But, alas I do have five favorite things from the week! E69E6C8C-FE02-48C9-9B30-10EAA1E1DDBF_4_5005_c

One: Okra

Y’all, I love okra!  I know a lot of people don’t like it because it’s “slimy.”  If your okra is slimy then you didn’t dry it enough after washing them.  Also wipe your knife blade off after every few cuts.

I love okra sautéed with onion, garlic, & sometimes bacon.  The Define Dish’s cajun okra is super delicious.  But, this week I made oven fried okra using this recipe. IMG_1733

Two: Design Darling

Have you checked out Mackenzie’s blog Design Darling?  Is that not the most perfect name for a design blog?  I’m very invested in her house remodel…I’m living vicariously through her at the moment as I dream about renovating my house on the daily.  Mackenzie also has a fantastic weekly newsletter.

She has this little questionnaire on her blog today, so thought I’d fill it out here.

What you’re reading right now: I just finished Our Stop.  So cute!

A silver lining of quarantine: I finally started the garden I’ve been talking about doing for years.

Someone you’re excited to see after quarantine: I’m hoping I can go visit my my Mom for Mother’s Day.  I haven’t seen Mama J since Christmas!  I think Texas will still be in lockdown though.

Your first meal after quarantine: Oh my god, any meal in a restaurant!  Probably sushi because that is the one type of cuisine I refuse to make at home.

Something you’ll never again take for granted: HUGS.

Now, you copy & paste and tell me about yourself in the comments!

What you’re reading right now:

A silver lining of quarantine:

Someone you’re excited to see after quarantine:

Something you’ll never again take for granted:

Three: Empanadas

I randomly discovered these empanadas at one of the HEB’s here in The Woodlands.  I specifically love the cheeseburger empanada & make it for lunch at least once a week.  I like to plate it over a bed of romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes, & diced red onions – this way it is a fully dressed burger!

Four: Beverly Hills is back!

Oh, I’m so excited that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back! rhobh570

This season looks like it is going to be so good!  They have completely broken the fourth wall, which I love.  Should I recap this season?

Five: RoRo’s

Okay, on the recommendation of Brittany from Loverly Grey, I ordered some dinner rolls & cinnamon rolls RoRo’s Baking Company.  Stick a fork in me!

So, clearly I’ve eaten my way through this week…

I fell asleep last night at 7:30p, so I haven’t had a chance to watch RHONY.  I’ll do that this weekend & post the recap by Monday.

Until then, I hope you all have a superb weekend.  Superb?  Who says that anymore?  Whatever, you get it.

RHONY Recap: Bend Over & Show Me Your Name

Hey guys, did you know that Leah has tattoos?  Oh my god, this episode was ridiculous. Okay, this recap will be short & sweet.

Leah made the mistake of telling Sonja that she had a tramp stamp, among other tattoos, with her name.  Sonja relayed the info to Dorinda.  The game of Telephone starts…

All the ladies go up to Ramona’s house in the Hamptons for the weekend.  One by one, the ladies stuck their foot in their mouths regarding tattoos, none of them will talk to or sleep with someone with a tattoo.  No one messed it up better than Dorinda.  I believe her exact words were, “If we forget your name, you can just bend over.”  Something along those lines.  Dorinda was taught as a child that someone with tattoos will kidnap you…  Keep in mind this is only the second time Dorinda has met Leah.  Leah was not impressed. 2DC32DA0-776F-468E-9989-23485EDC6D37

Honestly, I do think Dorinda was trying to be funny; however, Leah doesn’t know Dorinda so it was too much too soon.  Dorinda did later confess to Sonja that she was going through a lot personally & was lashing out at everyone.  Tinsley rightly pointed out that that does not excuse bad behavior.

LuAnn was also there, b****ing about the room she got a Ramona’s house.  Y’all, I don’t understand why ALL the housewives complain about their rooms so much.  When I travel, I am only in my room to sleep.  I could not care less which room I got.

By the end of the episode, all the women seemed to be okay with each other, including Leah & Dorinda.

Really, that’s all that happened.  Looks like next week will be more interesting.

Have a good weekend!

Friday Five: I’m a Gardener!

Hi friends!  Happy Good Friday if you celebrate that.  I hope you’ve had a great week!  Mine has been pretty busy, which is just the way I like it.

Shall we get right into my Friday Five?

One: Amazon Pants

I have done it!  I have found the perfect yoga pants…from Amazon.  You read that right.  Amazon! BCF6504D-1C41-4AE4-B975-79531AE0103A

I was influenced by @loverlygrey on IG for the leopard print blush colored yoga pants.  Once they arrived & I wore them, I immediately ordered the burgundy leopard print.  Early last week, I ordered the mauve colored pants.  I loved the scalloped edge detail, which is also around the ankle.  This brand, Core 10, is so good & they are size inclusive.

Not all yoga pants are created equal.  These are great because they hold you in but allow you to move.  They are so comfy, & also so cute!

Two: Tower Garden

I’ve always wanted a vegetable garden, but my yard is 90% shade.  My backyard, specifically, is 100% shade.  The front designated flowerbed is the only area that gets sun.  So, I finally broke down & bought a tower garden from Juice Plus, which is also where I get my vitamins from.

Anyway, the tower arrived over the weekend & I put it together on Monday & started my seedlings.  Two have already sprouted & they are so cute!

I love that the tower came with a step by step guide (with pictures) on how to start your seeds & transfer them to the tower.  I’m going to cut those two sprouted ones & move them outside to keep growing.

Now JP+ sent me 5 different kinds of lettuce & basil.  I have no need for that much lettuce, so I ordered some more seedlings, which should arrive today!  I ordered some more herbs, yellow squash, cauliflower, bell peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, jalapeños, & celery.  I’m so excited to attempt to flex my green thumb.

Three: Coconut Mojito

Y’all, it has taken me about 3 weeks to perfect my coconut mojito recipe, but I have finally done it!  In Georgetown, TX there is a restaurant called Blue Corn Harvest – this is where my obsession with coconut mojitos was born.

Here is my recipe:
8 fresh mint leaves
1 tsp. of sugar
1 lime, juiced
1 oz. cream of coconut (not coconut milk)
3 oz. light rum
sparkling water
lime, mint, or coconut for garnish (optional)

I like make this in one of my stemless wineglasses – they are the perfect size.  First, I muddle the mint leaves & sugar together with the back of a spoon.  Then I add the lime juice & cream of coconut & mix all together.  It will look thick.  Add the rum & mix again. Add ice, & then add the sparkling water – I like Topo Chico for this drink.  I originally kept trying it with coconut sparkling water, but it was too sweet.  The drink will become very frothy & bright white.  Enjoy!

Four: Manicures

Confession time – I have not been in a nail salon in 2+ years.  Crazy, I know!  I stopped going to the nail salon because I always left disappointed.  They NEVER cut my nails short enough, I like them very, very short.  I would get mad when my manicures only lasted a week or so.  Just all the things bugged me.  So, now I do my own nails & haven’t looked back.IMG_1669

Now is a great time to learn how to give yourself a manicure.  Watch Katie’s video, as she has started an IG movement for at home manicures.

Color in Picture: Essie Mod Square

Five: Our Stop

I don’t know about you, but I have had such a hard time focusing on a book while in quarantine.  I used to be a “2-3 books a week” person, now I’m a “1 book in two weeks” person.

This book reminded me so much of The Mindy Project and Bridget Jones’ Diary.  It took awhile for me to get into Our Stop because for the first 20-ish pages there was no dialogue between any characters.  But, once things started happening I really got into the book.  F569753B-6EC6-4670-BA7D-32C56B52E987_1_201_a

Daniel notices Nadia every morning on his train.  Being shy, he decides to reach out to Nadia in the Missed Connections section of the newspaper.  They go back & forth in the Missed Connections.  Y’all this book is so cute, I feel like Taylor Swift would write a song about it.

Our Stop book makes me want to watch the “Missed Connections” episode of The Mindy Project so bad.  I think I’ll do that this weekend.  If you like British Chick Lit, you’ll like this book.

I hope you all have a happy Easter & celebrate with each other over Zoom.  I personally will be going to brunch via FaceTime!

A Day in the Life: April 7, 2020

Hi friends!  I thought I’d write a post all about what my day looks like.  So, I’m going to list out everything I did today.

6:25am: alarm goes off -> hit snooze

6:32am: 2nd alarm goes off -> hit snooze

6:34am: snooze alarm goes off -> turn it off

6:43am: 2nd snooze alarm goes off -> turn it off -> turn on lamp, turn up the lights on clock, glance at emails

Get up & put YL CBD muscle rub on shoulders & neck -> turn on my news podcasts -> make bed -> head into the bathroom.

Routine in the Bathroom:
1. Clean face with Thayer’s Witch Hazel
2. Used Peter Thomas Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel.
3. Put on my Glow Serum on my face & neck: I make this with Young Living essential oils – Lavender, Frankincense, Copaiba, Blue Tansy, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Manuka, & jojoba oil.
4. Under my eyes I swipe on Tula Glow & Get It.34BA9490-3056-4A1A-82E7-DD4983AB7103_1_201_a

While that soaks in, I do the following:
1. Take my Biotin. I use Nature’s Bounty 10,000 mcg.  I have only been able to find this exact one at Target & it is the highest dosage I have found.  They taste good (strawberry) & dissolve quickly.
2. I roll YL Progessence Plus on my forearms.  I use this to help balance & normalize my hormone levels.
3. Then I roll on YL Endoflex over my thyroid for thyroid & metabolism support.
4. Next I roll YL Juvaflex over my liver to help with liver & lymphatic detoxification.
5. Last of the morning oils, I roll YL Joy over my heart because it is uplifting & calming.  Joy also promotes general attitude & emotional well-being; we can all use that right now.  Am I right?

Then I gather all my Juice Plus vitamins (4 berry, 4 veggie, & 4 fruit) & put those aside.  I prefer the gummy vitamins, they taste so good, & eat them while I’m getting ready. 217FC6CC-9DE4-4766-BA49-549224FD5E38_4_5005_c

Okay, so by 7:00am I was in the kitchen making my coffee.  I like this coffee from Amazon, & use any caramel flavored creamer.  Right now I’m using a coconut milk caramel flavored creamer.  While the coffee was brewing, I grabbed a Chobani peach yogurt & filled a small bowl (think salad dressing size in a lunch box) with mini dark chocolate chips & roasted pistachios.  I put the yogurt & toppings in my office & turn on a lamp.  I like for my yogurt to sit out for a little bit to take the cold edge off.  With my coffee in hand, I head back into the bathroom to get ready.

So first up, I put on “weekend” makeup, which consists of concealer, blush, mascara.  I’ve taken all my vitamins by the time I’m done with makeup.

7:30am: still sipping coffee, I start on my hair.  My hair is growing out from a bob & is at a real weird length, so I do have to fix it so that it makes some semblance of order.

7:45am: hair done, coffee done, brush teeth.

7:50am: got dressed – yes, I wear jeans to work from home.  I am much more productive if I am at least dressed “Friday casual” style.

8:00am: got to my desk to start my work day.
Office Diffuser blend today is Peppermint (stimulating), Orange (uplifting), Valor (balancing energies), & Lime (immune support).  It smells so good!

Adjusted thermostat every 10 minutes, trying to get warm.

8:45am: threw a load of laundry in the washer & off to my boss’s house to pickup some equipment to deliver to a client.

9:00am: met my boss & also picked up a face mask my friend Jessica left for me.

9:15am: drove through Starbucks – I know this is so bad, but it was drive through.

9:45 – 10:15am: met client – I’m not going to lie, it felt great to drive my car.  Don’t worry, we maintained social distance.

While I was waiting, I finalized my life insurance policy with my broker over the phone.  Now is a great time to make sure all your paperwork is in order in case something were to happen to you.

10:45am: stopped at Walgreens, totally forgot to get what I went in there for.  Instead, it looked like I gave a 10yo $40 to pick out snacks for a road trip.

11:00am: picked up lunch from Herb & Beet (pickup only).  I was really worried about this small business closing permanently, so I was really excited to see that they were doing pickups.

11:15am: unloaded my Walgreens “groceries,” switched over the laundry to the dryer, & washed the dishes from last night.

11:30am: back at my desk, working with my Texas Brisket salad and mac & cheese. 664E90DA-ECDE-40AF-8405-C689597FB1A0_1_201_a

Made a mess of my shirt, & promptly changed into yoga pants & a sweatshirt.  Back to work.  Ugh, there is a fly in my house.

3:00pm: took a 10 minute break to do an arm workout with Obé Fitness.  My arms are going to fall off after that one.

4:09pm: I hear the ducks have returned to my yard to hold me hostage once again.

5:00pm: virtual HH with Amy & Maureen!  Y’all, I have perfected my Coconut Mojito recipe & will share it on my Friday Five!

6:00pm: made dinner – Trader Joe’s Carnitas with Salsa Verde burrito & guacamole with Elote chips.

7:00pm: watched Watch What Happens Live & Hometown that I fell asleep during on Monday.

8:00pm: watched Vanderpump Rules
Living Room Diffuser Blend: Anthropologie Volcano candle blend – YL Orange, Grapefruit, Lime, Idaho Blue Spruce, & Geranium.

9:00pm: watched Shahs of Sunset from last Friday.

10:00pm: Bedtime Routine:
1. Turn on diffuser: blend is Thieves & Lemon for immune support.
2. Used Bliss Makeup Melt to remove mascara.
3. Wash face with YL Orange Blossom face wash.
4. Used Thayer’s Witch Hazel for toner.
5. Used Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel (I’d like to do this every other day, but only remember about once a week).
6. Used prescription acne gel.
7. NeuLASH lash enhancing serum. 5DA4AED0-2560-4D17-8019-701DF39E1231

10:15pm: In Bed Routine:
1. Spray Thieves on the bottom of my feet.
2. Roll YL Tranquil from shoulder, across my clavicle, to the other shoulder (sleep support).
3. Roll YL Soothe CBD oil on the back of my neck (for chronic neck & shoulder pain).
4. Put on chapstick.
5. Put on Olive & June cuticle oil.
6. Read Only You until 11:00pm.  Lights out.

One thing I left off this list is every time I washed my hands.  If I touched something, then I washed my hands.

Was this interesting?

I’ll be back Friday for my Friday Five & the RHONY Recap.

RHONY: Kindergarten

Y’all, I am so happy!  RHONY is back baby!  Those of us that love Bravo really need and deserve this in these trying times.

As most season premiers go, it was fairly tame for the NY ladies.  However. we. have. got. a. season.

We open on the ladies finding out that Bethenny left the show.  Everyone’s reactions were predictable for each gal – Dorinda & Sonja were sad, Tinsley was indifferent, Ramona & Luann were all too happy to say good riddance.  Okay, now that’s out of the way…

Luann emerges from the court house, as the Countess has wrapped up her rap sheet by completing probation.  Sonja, her emotional support housewife, was in tow with a fun flask for moral support.AA96E43B-D3FA-4AE8-A466-50024043E4E6Anyone else find it weird that the coffee cart guy knew Luann?  The ladies sit on a bench and immediately start b*tching about old stuff.  They quickly hugged it out while Sonja ate a sandwich over Lu’s shoulder.  Oh Sonja!

Down the road Tinsley meets up with new housewife Leah.  They do a boxing workout with someone that looks like the guy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest that had the lobotomy.  So, it sounds like Tinz is dating a new guy named Bruce that has kids, which she talks to like dogs.  Y’all, is Tinsley going to be like the stepmom from The Parent Trap? B1B7B3B5-74BE-4105-8115-4A92CBA87671_4_5005_c
Meanwhile across town, Johns stops by Dorinda’s for date night in.  I thought Dorinda & John broke up?  We learned that Carson Kressley broke Dorinda’s rib, but she is on the mend!  This scene made me cringe so much.  Dorinda clearly hates John, but doesn’t want to give up that dry cleaning discount…  To let your man burn his hand on a hot pan is sure fire sign this relationship isn’t gonna work out.

Do we like Dorinda’s new haircut?  I kinda think she looks like Lance Bass…

Across town Ramona meets up with some of her old friends, that look younger each time we seem them.  As always, Mo orders a simple cocktail, but asks for it to be made as complicated as possible.  She basically asked for a mojito with the mint & limes on the side.  Your cocktail shouldn’t need a tray!  Ramona starts crying, no actual tears, to her friends because she sold her apartment & hates her new one – get this, because she’s alone there too.  Must be so tough to live on the Upper East Side…  How often do you think bartenders spit in Ramona’s drinks?

Seemingly the next day, we meet Leah’s 12yo daughter, Kier.  They stroll to coffee where Leah committed one of the biggest housewives sins – telling a the server “I’m going to have…”  Always, always treat waitstaff with the utmost respect.  “May I please have…”

Anyway, Leah informs us that she & Kier are soul mates, life partners, best friends, and also mother/daughter.  This smells like a Kelly Dodd/Jolie situation in the making.

Meanwhile, at the townhouse Stuart Little’s House Sonja’s apartment looks like an episode of Hoarders.  Her place is my nightmare.  She opened the door to Ramona, and immediately started rambling about having a concussion, falling off platform sneakers, & shock that Ramona’s dog is still alive.  Ramona cut her to the quick, & pointed out that Sonja was sad & deflecting about her daughter going off to college.  Call me crazy, but how is this any different from when she was at boarding school?

Dorinda is getting her makeup done by Caroline Stanbury’s (oh, how I miss Ladies of London) sycophant, Luke, for an End of Summer party.  Dorinda is still peeved at Tinsley for not opening up to her.  Y’all, I just don’t think Tinsley is that deep.  Every city needs a housewife like Tinsley, she’s there to support, hangout, & have a good time.  Dorinda’s feud is super weird.

Sonja, Leah, & Tinsley arrive at the party & do a pre-drink, except Sonja isn’t drinking yet & Leah doesn’t drink?  I don’t think Leah even knows if she is sober or not.  Did anyone else see Ramona walk right past the women?  Cold.

Dorinda started the evening by surprising the guests with a drag queen performing Luann’s song, “Feelin’ Jovani.”  I kinda thought it was a dig, but Lu took it as “let bygones be bygones.”  Who am I to argue with the Countess.  Ramona & Luann interrogated got to know Leah.  Leah & Lu compared probation sentences as our new friend is no stranger to the 5-0-5-0. 79B11CDE-7F8A-44DF-89A1-A24B46C13C51

Y’all, I think Leah might be the right amount of crazy we need this season.

For some god awful reason, Tinsley thought it would be wise to pull Dorinda aside to tell her that they would talk later about their issue.  This of course set Dorinda off.   I just don’t get it.  What does it matter if Tinsley dates Scott?  Why is the source of Tinsley’s money anyone’s business? Who cares if Scott buys her sh*t?  She’s on TV show, I assume a large portion of her income comes from Bravo?  We also know that she is a wealthy socialite from Virginia.  Why is any of it Dorinda’s business?  By going after Tinsley, Dorinda is punching down.  Not a good look.

Meanwhile, Sonja is either trying to hook Leah up with Ramona’s sloppy seconds, William.  Or, she’s trying to somehow use Leah to hook up with William herself.  Oh, Sonja – please never change.

We end the episode with Tinsley & Dorinda still arguing about nothing.  Dorinda goes too far, telling Tinsley that she got her shoes on her back & that she needs to go back to kindergarten.  Like Leah, we were all appalled.

What did you think of the premier?  Do we have a good season ahead of us?  Do we like Leah, or is the jury still out?

I also posted my Friday Five this morning, so please check that out.  I hope you all have great weekend six feet away from everyone else.

Friday Five: Live from Snack Time

Hi friends!  Thankfully March is over with!  Didn’t it feel like March had 11, 374, 922 days?  This week has been a doosy, but let’s get into the good things from this week.

One: Tiger King

Okay, like anyone else all I can talk about is Tiger King.  Y’all, this show is so bad, so so bad.  It’s wild! 2E5B6AB3-27FD-4E8F-AB44-8A02888DD7F2

Here is my recap of each episode:

  1. I don’t get the hype.
  2. Weird, but okay.
  3. Say what?
  4. WTF!
  5. Oh, this got dark.
  6. Huh.
  7. Justice for Joe?
  8. Egos ruin the world.

A few lingering thoughts…  I’m absolutely terrified of Doc Antle.  Joe, Doc, & Carole were are three cults leaders.  Also, Carole was no better than Joe, in terms of wanting big cats, she was just “smart enough” to call it a sanctuary instead of a zoo.

Two: Pandemic Pants

I was influenced by Becca Freeman to get Pandemic Pants from Old Navy.04992437-29F9-48F4-8F1F-CFE315EF536EI’m not sure if mine are the exact same as hers, but they a mighty comfy.  Definitely not flattering, but did I mention they were C O M F O R T A B L E.

Three: The Shop Forward

Y’all, I got these new t-shirts that go perfectly with my pandemic pants…pandemic tees?

Not only are they super soft, but all the proceeds go to charity.  You can get them here.

Four: Zucchini Pizza

Ashley Spivey has a recipe highlight saved on her Instagram with several versions of zucchini pizzas or “boats.”  I made a classic pepperoni pizza.  This recipe could not be easier, and I really like that you can make this one zucchini at a time if you’re cooking for one & can change up your toppings.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Zucchini (I suggest one per person)

  • Rinse & dry your veggies
  • Slice zucchini length wise
  • Scoop out some of the fleshy part to create a trench
  • Season to taste with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, & olive oil
  • Roast in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes
  • Pull out of the oven, & fill the trenches with pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • Top with mozzarella (or cheese of your choice)
  • Then layer with pepperoni (or your favorite pizza toppings)
  • Pop back in the oven for another 10 minutes or so to melt the cheese
  • Enjoy!

Five: My New Favorite IG Accounts

@philip_or_flop – I could watch Philip do DIYs all day.  It is oddly soothing.

@pleasehatethesethings – this account is so hilarious.  It’s basically pictures of awful design decisions.

@livefromsnacktime – If you liked the show Kids Say the Darnedest Things, then this is the IG account for you.

My recap of RHONY will be up later today.

Until next time, be well.

Friday Five: A Daisy or Two

E69E6C8C-FE02-48C9-9B30-10EAA1E1DDBF_4_5005_cHey y’all!  Hope you have survived another week of Social Distancing.  I’ve been trying recall if I’m on week 2 or week 3 of quarantine.  I think the first week was unofficial…

Anyway, I have five fun things, saving my sanity, to share with you for the week!

One: Quarantunes

Y’all, my playlist for the quarantine is so good!  If you are wanting 4+ hours of music to fill the silence, take a listen here.  I have a good mix of upbeat, mellow, new-ish, oldies.

Two: Fresh Flowers

So, the least practical thing I bought for my quarantine was fresh flowers.IMG_1543Even I am shaking my head at this.  I’m an Enneagram 1 (wing 9), but in times of stress E1’s go to Enneagram 4.  There is a lot of staring out the window, which normally would be very unlike me.

I do take a very quick daily sanity walk to my mailbox everyday, but if you follow me on IG then you know I have two really ugly ducks that have taken up residence in my front yard.  I’m terrified of birds (long story), and I feel like they are holding me hostage.IMG_1542Anyway, the fresh flowers are allowing me to be with nature, but not in nature.  Just how I like it.

Three: Obé Fitness

I’ve finally gotten so stir crazy that I’ve started using Obé Fitness, an at home workout app.  There is a free 7 day trial, & you can use code Ashley30 for 30% off your first month.  This is Ashley Spivey’s discount code for her followers, but I’m one of them so I’m sharing the love!

I started with a 10 minute arm workout, which I only did half of.  Y’all, I did not pick a beginner sesh.  As soon as the instructor went to planks I tapped out.  I’m just not at a place in my life where I’m ready to plank for 3.5 minutes…or at all.  Ever.

I do really like that you can select workouts from 10 minutes to an hour, you can target certain areas, and they have dance & yoga.  Think I’ll try dance cardio next, sounds fun!

Four: Staying above the Wellness Line

In the midst of all the Coronavirus stuff going on, I’m doing some extra things to stay above the wellness line.  To be fair, if anyone is already sick then medicine is obviously the way to go to get back to health.

Here are some things I’m doing:

  1. Diffusing Thieves essential oil in every room in my house while I’m in that room.  Thieves is excellent for your immune system.  Side bonus – Thieves + Lemon helps fight my allergies as the pollen is thick around here.D581DC2D-276F-4E17-BA38-ADD1DC3CCCD4
  2. Drinking at least 2 ounces of NingXia Red for added antioxidants.BFE51B72-2D55-4560-8578-34F3A49C46DB
  3. Vitamin C – all day, every day.
  4. CBD muscle rub; I have chronic neck and shoulder issues & frequent the chiropractor.  Well, I can’t do that right now, so I use CBD muscle rub to help release my neck.
  5. If things get especially stressful, I use my CBD calm &/or soothe roller.
  6. All. The. Face. Masks.  This is more of staying above the mental wellness line.

Full disclosure, items 1 – 5 are all from Young Living Essential Oils.

Five: Jessica Yellin

If you are not following @JessicaYellin on Instagram you should be.  Jessica brings her followers up-to-date, neutral information.  I often get info from her 2 – 3 days before it makes it to mainstream media.  Her signature format is #newsnotnoise.

Hope you all are well.
